*Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy is REGULATED BY PRESCRIPTION. Sessions CANNOT be administered without PRIOR doctor prescription. A doctor must deem each person is healthy enough for use and that the compression that comes with the hyperbaric therapy would not exacerbate any current conditions otherwise contraindicated for this type of therapy. Use your doctor for prescription or one of ours. Any questions on this please don't hesitate to ask.
Soft or expandable Hyperbaric Chambers are NOT built for the same adequate/safe pressure levels that hardshell hyperbaric chambers are. For that reason, REsource Wellness has brought to La Jolla the best 2ATA machine on the market. Pressure is easily adjusted between any level of pressure up to 100kpa/2ATA.
Our 2ATA Hyperbaric Chamber has plenty of room inside and is extremely comfortable. It also has it's own AC System, so maintaining a comfortable environment during treatment is easy. Additionally, our machine creates its own oxygen so we are not creating a fire hazard by importing it. Safety should be the number one priority, so we brought to you a machine with as many built in safety precautions as possible.
All persons are required to present a prescription prior to booking a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session. One can be obtained through our own private Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Lain Lye. You may also bring a prescription from your own doctor as well. Please reach out for more information.

HBOT stands for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. During HBOT your body is effectively saturated with oxygen, an essential element used by your body for healing. HBOT provides oxygen to cells and tissues that suffer from a lack of oxygen. Healing tissues suffering from hypoxia are unable to heal themselves as effectively as when they have oxygen. Most cells in areas of swelling or other types of injury are suffering from hypoxia. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy also boosts the abilities of the immune system by accelerating the creation of new white blood cells, the sentinel of the bloodstream.
Oxygen is the final electron acceptor in the Electron Transport Chain, which is where all of the ATP is produced. This is known as aerobic respiration, or how our cells breathe. Oxygen is essential to life, but it is how it affects the function of every cell in the human body that makes it necessary for life. Without oxygen, we can't make energy for our brain, organs, or any tissue. The more oxygen we can deliver to our tissues, the healthier, energetic and mentally well we feel. It has a very high affinity for electrons (high electronegativity), making it a good electron acceptor and perfect in its role. In summary, Oxygen allows us to make ATP, which is the energy currency of our body, thereby required by all cellular processes to function and to support normal bodily and brain function, including organs, bones, joints, muscle, etc.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a type of treatment used to speed up healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, gangrene, wounds that won't heal, and infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen.
For this therapy, you enter a special chamber to breathe in pure oxygen in air pressure levels 1.5 to 3 times higher than average. The goal is to fill the blood with enough oxygen to repair tissues and restore normal body function.
WHO CANNOT HAVE HBOT?
There are a few conditions in which some may not be able to undergo HBOT. If someone currently has an acute cold with ear or sinus congestion it will be very difficult to balance the pressure in their ears, therefore we must wait until they are well again. If someone has certain types of lung damage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy may not be a suitable treatment. If someone has or suspects they might have Hereditary Sperocytosis, Sickle Cell Anemia, or COPD.....pressurized oxygen chamber therapy is contradicted for them. Certain medications (such as Bleomycin, Disulfiram, Mafernide Acetate) will also preclude some from hyperbaric oxygen treatment.Diabetics are required to take a blood test before each hyperbaric treatment. If the blood sugar level is lower than 150, the patient will not be permitted to undergo treatment until the level is raised. If someone is diabetic be sure to bring snacks for before and after treatment and to make sure to test blood before arrival. These conditions are for the overall wellness of the patient.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy was first used in the U.S. in the early 20th century. The therapy was tried again in the 1940s when the U.S. Navy used it to treat deep-sea divers who had decompression sickness.
By the 1960s, the therapy was also used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning.
Today, it's still used to treat sick scuba divers and people with carbon monoxide poisoning, including firefighters and miners. It has also been approved for more than a dozen conditions ranging from burns to bone disease.
Not everyone needs to be sick and ill though to enjoy the positive effects of HBOT. You could a stressed out stay at home mom to the over exercising first time marathoner. You could be a healthy older person looking for more energy and better sleep. More oxygen available to the body when it needs it is something each of us can benefit from. Or maybe the anti-aging potentials of HBOT is what you are interested in?
Even not being sick or injured HBOT does require a prescription for use. It's now being regulated so that we can be sure that each user doesn't have some of the few contraindications that would disqualify them for being put in a pressurized oxygen chamber. If your doctor is not familiar with uses of HBOT we can refer you to one that is.
Hyperbaric medicine is not taught in most medical schools. As part of their continuing education doctors are often overwhelmed with information with the number of treatments available for various conditions. Pharmaceutical companies advertise by sending doctors information regarding their products. As hyperbarics is a commodity, there is no central organization that sends physicians information regarding hyperbaric treatment. Thus, in order for doctors to learn of the healing possibilities of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, they must reach beyond the loads of information already handed to them. Doctors must actively research the possibilities of hyperbarics to know of the many benefits it provides, and too often, our physicians are too busy with treating patients to reach out and seek new possibilities; those physicians who have, however, endorse hyperbarics.
Only a healthcare provider should prescribe HBOT. A number of hospitals offer these chambers. People relax, sit, or lie comfortably in these chambers and take deep breaths. Sessions can last from 45 minutes up to 300 minutes, depending on the reason for the treatment and ATA level used.
During hyperbaric treatment, one feels comfortable as though he or she were at atmospheric pressure. Patients feel as though they were not even in the chamber. While the chamber is changing pressures, one experiences the same effects of pressure change while ascending or descending in an airplane. The ears may feel plugged as the pressure is raised, like when in an airplane or the mountains. Swallowing or chewing gum will "pop" the ears back to normal. It is very normal to feel pressure changes in your ears on ascent and descent, but it is not common to feel pain. A few patients may while most will not. Your blood carries the extra oxygen throughout the body, infusing the injured tissues that need more oxygen so they can start healing. When a session is done, you may feel lightheaded. Mild side effects include claustrophobia, fatigue, and headaches.
Several sessions are often needed.

Enhanced Tissue Healing. HBOT can accelerate the healing process by delivering higher levels of oxygen to tissues in the body. This is particularly valuable for wound healing, post-surgery recovery, and addressing tissue damage caused by various medical conditions. Increasing oxygen availability promotes cellular regeneration and tissue repair both superficially and deep inside the body speeding up the body’s ability to repair itself.HBOT helps block the action of harmful bacteria and strengthens the body's immune system. HBOT can disable the toxins of certain bacteria. It also increases oxygen concentration in the tissues. This helps them resist infection. In addition, the therapy improves the ability of white blood cells to find and destroy invaders.
HBOT encourages the formation of new collagen and new skin cells. It does so by encouraging new blood vessel to grow. It also stimulates cells to produce certain substances, like vascular endothelial growth factor. These attract and stimulate endothelial cells needed for healing.
The effect on Oxygen-Starved Areas, HBOT prevents "reperfusion injury. Certain medical conditions can restrict blood flow and reduce oxygen delivery to specific areas of the body. HBOT helps overcome this limitation by supplying oxygen directly to these oxygen-starved tissues. This can be crucial for conditions like non-healing wounds and tissue damage due to radiation therapy.
Reduction of Inflammation. Inflammation is a common factor in many medical conditions. HBOT can reduce inflammation having positive effects on conditions like arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and other inflammatory disorders. By moderating the immune response, HBOT may contribute to reducing these inflammation markers.
How about Improved Oxygen Saturation? HBOT increases the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood plasma, enhancing oxygen saturation levels. This not only supports tissue healing but also benefits vital organs and body functions that require an optimal oxygen supply to function properly.
For those experiencing Gas Embolisms or Gas bubbles in blood vessels, this conditon can be life-threatening, HBOT can help dissolve these bubbles, preventing blockages and improving blood flow. This is particularly important for those in scuba diving accidents or those who had medical procedures that involve the introduction of air or gas into the bloodstream.
Neurological and Cognitive Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy... HBOT increases oxygen supply benefiting brain health as well. It has been explored for its potential in improving cognitive function, memory, and even post-stroke recovery. This oxygen-rich environment created supports brain tissue and nerve cell repair and recovery.
HBOT can also aid in Radiation Injury Management. Radiation therapy can cause tissue damage and delayed healing. HBOT can help mitigate these effects by promoting tissue recovery and reducing radiation-induced inflammation during as well as after a treatment series. This makes it a valuable adjunct therapy for cancer patients who are undergoing radiation treatments.
HBOT can also be used to support people with Chronic Conditions. Certain chronic conditions, like diabetic ulcers and certain neurological disorders, can benefit from improved oxygen supply and tissue healing facilitated by HBOT. This therapy compliments traditional treatments to enhance overall management and quality of life.As you can see Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy offers a variety of benefits due to its ability to increase oxygen availability to the body’s tissues. These benefits span wide with the wound healing, inflammation reduction, neurological support, to the management of various medical conditions and beyond.. If you feel like HBOT could be a useful treatment for you please consult your physician to obtain a prescription for Hyperbaric
As we age, we require more Support with Tissue Healing. The aging process can reduce the speed and effectiveness of tissue healing. With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy the potential for faster tissue recovery, and quicker healing of wounds, post-surgical incisions, and other skin issues greatly increases. This is also very helpful in faster recovery after difficult workouts. Do you know anyone that would be interested in less recovery time being needed between workouts?
Most of us over the age of forty would agree that greater Circulation throughout the body would be helpful, since with age challenges to the circulatory system can arise. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can support circulatory function by increasing oxygen-carrying capacity, thereby promoting improved circulation.
What about better Brain Health? A majority of us over the age of forty would agree that improved memory or cognitive function, more like we had in our younger days would be appreciated. Well, HBOT can enhance that mental clarity and cognitive function by providing more oxygen to the brain. It may also positively impact memory, concentration, and mental energy levels, something we can all us more of.
Have you ever heard anyone over age forty express that they could use more Energy? More oxygen at the cellular level can enhance energy production, helping older individuals carry out daily activities more effectively without tiring out as quickly as before.
Did someone say Anti-Aging Effects? Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can support cellular rejuvenation and potentially provide anti-aging effects by reducing cellular damage associated with the aging process, enhancing overall health and quality of life. Recent study indicates that HBOT may induce significant senolytic effects including significantly increasing telomere length and clearance of senescent cells in aging populations ….something biohacking has been working to achieve for years.
Do you know anyone with Chronic Pain over the age of forty? Aging can lead to increased instances of chronic pain. HBOT can help alleviate such pain by reducing inflammation and supporting tissue healing processes.
A stronger immune system for most of us sounds like an amazing thing these days….How can we naturally Boost Immune System? Often times the immune system can weaken with age. HBOT can naturally enhance immune cell activity, contributing to a stronger immune system and less sick days.
How about a Reduction in Stress and Anxiety? Do you know anyone with high stress in your life? Well, the higher the oxygen levels the lower stress and anxiety levels can drop, promoting relaxation and improving overall psychological well-being.
And what about Heart Health? Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can enhance cardiovascular function, regulate blood pressure, and potentially reduce the risk of heart disease, thus supporting heart health.
With Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy there is something for everyone. From simple workout recovery and more energy, to post surgical recovery and less daily pain, plus better circulation, all the way to better brain and heart health, a stronger immune system and anti-aging effects.
